Branson to get a Hobby Lobby

Posted online

Oklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby Stores Inc. is adding a store in Branson.

The company signed a lease for the former Kmart store at 1477 State Highway 248, a spokesperson said via email. The planned opening date is February 2021, the spokesperson said, declining to answer further questions or identify themself.

Hobby Lobby operates more than 900 arts and crafts stores — including two in Springfield — and employs 43,000, according to a January news release. During 2020, the company plans to open more than 50 new stores.

Kmart closed its sole Branson store on State Highway 248 in 2017, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. It’s located in Cedar Ridge Plaza with tenants including Country Mart and Dollar General.
