Branson shop to outfit Oscar nominee

Posted online
Branson formalwear shop Touch of Class will be represented at the 2011 Academy Awards ceremony, which will be broadcast at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 on ABC.

According to a news release from the Branson Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, Shelly Waggoner, a Reeds Spring actress in the film “Winter’s Bone,” will choose a gown from the store  – located at 4514 Gretna Road in The Shoppes at Branson Meadows – to wear at the ceremony.

Touch of Class owner Lana Johnson Nichols said she has contacted her suppliers and is bringing in several gowns for Waggoner to choose from during an upcoming fitting.

“She wants to look elegant and sophisticated,” Nichols said in the release. “We want her to feel wonderful on the red carpet.”

Ozarks connections are nothing new to the “Winter’s Bone” movie, which is based on a novel by West Plains author Daniel Woodrell. The film,  directed by Debra Granik, was shot in and around Forsyth, and is nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

The lead character, Ree Dolly, is played by Jennifer Lawrence. Waggoner’s character, is a Dolly family neighbor.

Nichols said a friend of Waggoner’s suggested Touch of Class, which has specialized in bridal gowns and formal wear for 13 years and also supplies stage clothing to Branson theaters.[[In-content Ad]]
