Branson sets water usage record in 2006

Posted online
Branson set a record in 2006 for total water usage, which increased 6.25 percent to 1.39 billion gallons.

The month with the highest production was July, when 179.8 million gallons were used. The peak day for the year was July 23, when 6.45 million gallons of water were used.

Most of the city’s water last year – about 92.1 percent – came from surface water at Lake Taneycomo. The remaining water came from ground water wells.

Wastewater flow for the year also set a record, with 1.28 billion gallons treated, a 7.1 percent increase from 2005.

The peak month for treatment was July as well – with 140 million gallons – and the peak day was July 4, when 4.87 million gallons were treated.

“These are just two more indications that 2006 was a record year for tourism in Branson,” Mayor Lou Schaefer said in a news release. “The city also set records in sales tax revenues, number of visitors and new construction.”[[In-content Ad]]
