The city’s annual midnight summer cruise and classic car show runs today through Sunday.
The highlight of the event is the midnight car cruise, set for Saturday. This year’s two-mile cruise route begins on Gretna Road at White Water. The route then moves south to Highway 76, west on 76 to Shepherd of the Hills Expressway and then east to Roark Valley Road.
Based on previous years’ crowds, Branson police estimate that more than 70,000 people will line the route to catch a glimpse.
Organizers are expecting more than 500 vehicles for the event, including models from the 1950s and 60s as well as older Fords and newer-model Corvettes and pickup trucks.
Along the parade route, the Branson Police Department will assign additional officers, assisted by officers from the Missouri Highway Patrol, Springfield Police Department and Taney County Sheriff’s Department.
Other scheduled activities include a controlled burnout contest, worship service, live entertainment and awards.
