Branson Landing is one of seven finalists for a worldwide award to be handed out next month by the International Council of Shopping Centers, a global trade association for the shopping center industry.
The $425 million entertainment and shopping development is competing against six other mixed-use retail projects larger than 500,000 square feet, and is one of just three in the United States, according to a news release.
Other finalists for the 2008 International Design and Development Award in that category are City Center Almere in Almere, Netherlands; the Domain in Austin, Texas; Manufaktura in Lodz, Poland; LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas; Sihlcity in Zurich, Switzerland; and Tokyo Midtown in Tokyo, Japan, according to the release.
The ICSC will announce winners in several categories Dec. 3 at an awards ceremony at the Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix.
Branson Landing, an expansive outdoor shopping destination situated along Lake Taneycomo near historic downtown Branson, was completed in June 2007. The development's centerpiece is an $8 million fountain that entertains visitors with water-and-fire shows coordinated with music.
Branson Landing was developed by Branson-based HCW Development Co. LLC, which has a $2 billion commercial and residential real estate development portfolio in several states. HCW properties in Branson include The Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing, Hilton Convention Center Hotel and The Payne Stewart Golf Club at Branson Hills.
"We are so pleased to have Branson Landing receive this recognition and be given the global recognition for the city of Branson," HCW CEO Rick Huffman said in the release. "Recognition of this nature reinforces HCW's commitment to continue to bring quality projects that embrace the communities in which it works."
Founded in 1957, the ICSC has 75,000 members - including shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals - in the U.S., Canada and more than 80 other countries, according to its Web site, www.icsc.org.[[In-content Ad]]
