Branson hoteliers plan residential lakeside development

Gail and Chris Myer, brothers and longtime Branson lodging businessmen, on Feb. 15 announced their plans to develop 53 acres of lakefront property known as Whisper Cove on Table Rock Lake. The mixed-use property is located off of Santa Fe Drive on U.S. Highway 265 between Table Rock Dam and Missouri Highway 376.

Whisper Cove plans call for 12 estate lots within a gated private area, 99 mountain villa townhouses and 216 lakefront condominiums. A chapel and clubhouse with pool and lake access would be available for residents.

Chris Myer said the first phase of the development comprises the 12 one-acre estate lots that would sell for $115,000 to $200,000 each. He said construction of the villa townhouses, expected to sell in the $249,000 to $400,000 range, would start later this year. Infrastructure work has begun, including paved roads, underground utilities and central sewer.

Whisper Cove is the first residential endeavor for the Myers, who own and manage five hotels: Best Western Center Pointe Inn, Best Western Music Capital Inn, Comfort Inn & Suites, Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills and Comfort Inn West.

Last summer, the Myers formed Myer Land Development Co., which serves as the developer and general contractor for Whisper Cove. Myer declined to disclose the estimated construction cost, but he said the development would be financed through Myer Land Development and Ozark Mountain Bank of Branson.

Gail Myer, who holds an engineering degree, said he took on the project because he enjoys the creative process of building.

The brothers call Whisper Cove a residential resort because of its close proximity to the lake and to Branson entertainment.

One of the goals of the Whisper Cove development is to remain harmonious with the Ozark environment. As such, the development plans limit building height, protect views of the lake and meet landscape standards. The Myers are basing the community’s architectural design and controls on the works of Frank Lloyd Wright and California’s Greene & Greene brothers of the English arts and crafts movement in the early 1900s. Building plans incorporate natural wood, stone and brick. Yung Design is the master planner of the community and Mark Welytok is the architect for the villas.

The property is in the Branson School District.[[In-content Ad]]
