A new environmental specialist for the city of Branson starts work on Friday.
The city has hired Mona Menezes, who brings more than 20 years of experience in community outreach programs and grant-writing, according to a news release.
Menezes previously was the stormwater educator for the city of Columbia for seven years. She initiated and delivered water quality-related programs to schools and community groups, and she created and conducted large educational workshops, field days and tours.
"She will bring great experience, leadership and enthusiasm to our public works team and to the city of Branson environmental stewardship programs," Branson Public Works Director Larry VanGilder said in the release.
Menezes has a bachelor's degree in parks administration/environmental studies and a master's degree in forestry, both from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She replaces Debbie Redford, who resigned in December to take a job with the Hollister Public School District, according to the release.
