Branson employee wins first Great American Pie Show

A Branson city employee was the big winner of Branson's first Great American Pie Show, which brought Al Roker, weatherman on NBC's "Today Show," to the tourism destination April 24-25.

Sherrell Dikes, who with her husband, Jim, operates the city-owned Branson Lakeside RV Park, won the Taste of Home magazine competition with her sour cream peach pecan pie. She received $2,500 and two roundtrip tickets on AirTran from the Branson Airport and a three-day, two-night stay in Branson, complete with shows and meals.

According to a city news release, more than 1,000 pies were entered in the competition.
