In his letter of resignation, Kruithof said his wife has accepted a new position that will require the couple to relocate to northwest Arkansas.
“In 34 years of marriage, Cynthia has provided unwavering support, and at times sacrifices for my career goals,” the letter stated. “At this stage of our life, it is time for me to provide that same commitment to her. For this reason only, I am submitting my letter of resignation.”
His last day of service has not yet been established, according to a news release, but the board has asked Kruithof to commit to the 10-week notification period as stipulated in his employment contract.
Kruithof served as Branson city administrator for five years. He succeeded Terry Dody in May 2008 and moved from Fort Smith, Ark., where he worked nearly a decade as deputy city administrator.
