Branson citizens’ service line gains popularity

Posted online
The city of Branson’s Citizens’ Service Request Line gained popularity in 2007, as more citizens contacted the city on issues that predominantly regarded property improvements and repairs.

Calls to the 24-hour request line numbered 165 for the year, up from 133 calls in 2006.

“Through this request line, we are able to provide information and solutions to problems in a timely manner to citizens on a variety of subjects regarding the city, its departments and policies,” city Public Information Director Jerry Adams said in a news release. “We have been very pleased with the success of the request line because it gives all residents a chance to take an interest in the appearance, health and safety of our city.”

The city instituted the phone line 10 years ago to be more responsive to residents’ concerns. The number is (417) 337-8502.

The city’s public information office aims to respond to all requests within five working days, and residents are kept up-to-date on an issue’s progress and are asked if they are satisfied when it is resolved. Callers may choose to remain anonymous.

Also in 2007, the city’s online service request through its Web site, www.cityofbranson.org, received 35 submissions. The feature was introduced last spring.
