The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors' Bureau is still looking for someone to lease space in its former north welcome center.
The chamber closed the facility in January, consolidating its welcome center services in its main offices at 269 State Highway 248. Chamber finance department staff occupy the building's ground floor at U.S. highways 160 and 65, but 3,000 square feet on the second floor is available for lease, according to chamber President and CEO Ross Summers.
"It never fulfilled the need we had for it - that is, it didn't have the visibility we needed for visitors coming south - so we decided to close it down," Summers said, adding that the chamber has finished renovation work at its main office's welcome center. "We're encouraging visitors to come to our main facility."
The chamber leases the building from Chris Taylor, who also owns the neighboring convenience store, and Summers said a potential tenant would sign a sublease for the upper floor. He added that he has received interest from several parties, and a lease rate would be negotiated.
The available space includes a separate lobby area and restroom facilities, as well as a deck, private office space, a meeting room and a kitchen. Interested parties should contact Summers, (417) 334-4084.
