Branson board reverses stance on high-rise hotel

Posted online
A proposed 25-story, 300-foot hotel in Branson originally rejected because of its height got a second chance Nov. 27.

The Branson Board of Aldermen approved 4–3 a bill that would permit construction of a high-rise hotel in the city. The action reverses the board’s Sept. 25 decision to scale the hotel down to 12 stories because of citizen opposition.

The proposal was reintroduced after the board realized it placed a restriction on the hotel’s number of stories but not its height as measured in feet.

The hotel would be part of the $100 million Point Entertainment Complex, proposed by developers HCW Development Co. LLC of Branson and Evergreen Investments LLC of Lebanon. The resort would be located at highways 65 and 248, the site of the former Branson Inn, and is slated to include condominiums, a restaurant, spa, office and retail space, a parking garage, conference center and a classic-car museum.

The bill will be read a second time and voted on at the board’s Dec. 11 meeting.
