Springfield, MO
The city’s board of aldermen Monday night gave unanimous first-reading approval of four bills that would allow 92 acres to be used for a Supercenter, a Sam’s Club and more than 12 retail shops. The board is scheduled to hold second reading and vote on the measures Aug. 14.
The Supercenter development would be located at the southwest corner of Highway 65 and Branson Hills Parkway, in a tax increment financing district. It would be Branson’s first Supercenter. (Click here to read about what happens when a Supercenter comes to town.)
Also at the meeting, the board approved a petition by the developers of Branson Hills to create a Community Improvement District for the mixed-use development. The CID would allow the developers to impose a 1 percent sales tax within the district, revenue from which would be used for the construction, operation and maintenance of public improvements.
The 1,100-acre Branson Hills project includes 1,900 residences, a retail district and an 18-hole golf course.
The board also had first-reading approval of a master development agreement that would create the city’s first business park, to be located on Highway 248, west of the Tri-Lakes Center. The 400-acre Branson Commerce Park would be used for commercial, light industrial and residential development.
A second reading and vote are scheduled for Aug. 14.
