R. Layne Morrill, owner of Shepherd of the Hills Realtors in Kimberling City, received the 26th annual Community Service Award at the Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet held on Dec. 1.

Morrill, known for his efforts in incorporating Kimberling City, initiating the Kimberling City Post Office, and building and donating the fire station, secured a $1 million zero-interest loan in July through White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s economic development program for Skaggs Heart and Cancer Center.

Pennie Newsom, co-owner of NewsomCreative of Kimberling City, also was recognized at the banquet as the Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador of the Year. Members of the first-year Ambassador program serve as the public relations arm of the chamber.

The Table Rock Lake Area Chamber of Commerce 2007 inducted its board of directors and officers for terms beginning Jan. 1. The 2007 officers are: Chairman Cy Murray of White River Valley Environmental Services; Immediate Past Chair Nita Jane Ayres of Aux Arc Real Estate; Vice Chair Jeff Justus of L&J Plumbing; Treasurer Ron Jett of Dixie Stampede, and Secretary Lisa Rau of Silver Dollar City.

Incoming board members serving three-year terms are: Randy Brashers of IMAX Entertainment Complex; Justus; Murray; Dorothy Polk of Alpine Lodge; Larry Price; Lisa Rau; Gary Fultz of Port of Kimberling Marina; and Cindi Conway and Eric Simkins of American Family Insurance.
