Branson aldermen consider new natural gas supplier

Posted online
Branson’s Board of Aldermen on July 9 gave first reading approval to a bill that would introduce a new natural gas supplier to the city.

If the bill is approved on final reading, Alliance Gas Energy Inc. would sell its natural gas franchise agreement with the city to Southern Missouri Natural Gas; SMNG continues to work toward meeting necessary requirements with the Missouri Public Service Commission to provide gas service to Branson.

SMNG serves 8,000 customers in an area from Rogersville to West Plains and from Marshfield to Ava.

Alliance Gas Energy was awarded the natural gas franchise agreement in 2005, but the contract also allowed the company to transfer its interest to another company.

Second reading and a final vote on the bill are expected at the board’s July 23 meeting. [[In-content Ad]]
