Branson aldermen consider administrator search firm

Posted online
The Branson Board of Aldermen Monday gave first-round approval to a contract with an executive search firm that would find candidates for Branson’s city administrator position, vacated by Terry Dody in July.

The contract will go before the board a second time Dec. 10. If it’s approved, Norcross, Ga.-based Slavin Management Consultants would be paid $13,000 plus expenses to conduct a national search for the position.

The hiring process could take about nine months, according to city Public Information Director Jerry Adams, with someone stepping into the job in late summer.

Dody abrubtly resigned in July after seven years in the position. Terms of his separation agreement with the city were not disclosed, but Dody received a severance package totaling $151,278 plus health insurance.

When Dody left, Assistant City Administrator Frank Schoneboom stepped in as interim city administrator. He has thrown his hat into the ring as a possible candidate for the permanent job, Adams said. No other applicants have come forward.

Adams said the salary would range between $100,000 and $125,000. The position acts as the city’s CEO and is responsible for the efficient and economical operation of city government, which includes serving and advising the mayor and the board, hiring department directors and preparing a proposed annual budget for the board’s consideration, according to the city’s Web site.
