Branson Airport names second carrier, new destination

Branson Airport officials this morning announced that Sun Country Airlines will offer nonstop service to and from Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., when the airport opens May 11.

St. Paul-based Sun Country is the second carrier to sign on for the new airport, under construction just south of Branson. Orlando-based AirTran Airways - also a low-fare airline - will provide daily nonstop flights to and from Atlanta and Milwaukee.

Sun Country service will be offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, according to a news release. Flights will depart Minneapolis-St. Paul at 7:30 a.m. and arrive in Branson at 9 a.m. They will depart Branson at 1:35 p.m. and arrive in Minneapolis-St. Paul at 3:10 p.m.

The introductory one-way fare will be $79.
