Branson Airport LLC filed suit last week against several firms, alleging faulty design, engineering and construction of the four-year-old airport.
BKG Executive Director Jeff Bourk said the Aug. 1 lawsuit names Anderson Engineering Inc.; Burns & McDonnell of Kansas City, which performed design work on the airport; McAninch Corp. of Des Moines, Iowa, which served as construction contractor; and E.T. Archer Corp. of Lee's Summit, which also performed engineering work.
"There's no immediate safety issues, and the (Federal Aviation Administration) has inspected the airport per their strict guidelines and we exceed or meet all safety standards," Bourk said. "But that said, why is there a lawsuit? It's because the lifespan of certain assets has been shortened and maintenance costs have increased. We're seeking to recover those potential future damages."
Bourk, who declined to provide a copy of the lawsuit filed in Taney County, said the suit does not mention a specific damage amount being sought. Officials from the Taney County circuit clerk's office were unable to locate the suit this morning, and the filing has not yet been made public online.
Bourk declined to divulge further details, citing a practice not to comment on pending litigation.
