Branson Airport, a facility built on the concept of bringing vacationers to the Ozarks, will soon be flying to another vacation destination.
Beginning Dec. 19, AirTran Airways will fly passengers nonstop to and from Orlando, Fla., on Saturdays. The new destination is the third addition this month for the airport, which also added holiday-season flights to and from Shreveport, La., and Rockford, Ill., via ExpressJet Airlines.
The Orlando flights also mark a return to AirTran offering two destinations to and from Branson; the airline, which began Branson service in May, initially flew to Atlanta and Milwaukee, but dropped the Milwaukee service in July as part of a companywide reduction in flight numbers.
"We are excited to connect two of the most popular entertainment destinations in our network," said Kevin Healy, senior vice president of marketing and planning for AirTran, in a news release.
Branson Airport also offers flights to and from Minneapolis and Dallas via Sun Country Airlines.
