Oil giant BP announced Monday it would cut 10,000 jobs.
“The oil price has plunged well below the level we need to turn a profit. We are spending much, much more than we make," CEO Bernard Looney said.
The layoffs are part of plans to reduce capital expenditures by $3 billion and operating costs by $2.5 billion this year.
