Boy Scouts of America plans to remove the word "boy" from the name of its flagship Boy Scouts program.
The switch to the name Scouts BSA is slated to take effect next February.
“We wanted to land on something that evokes the past but also conveys the inclusive nature of the program going forward,” BSA CEO Mike Surbaugh said. “We’re trying to find the right way to say we’re here for both young men and young women.”
BSA officials previously announced the organization would begin admitting girls into the Scouts.
