The Boy Scouts of America yesterday announced it will begin admitting girls to its ranks.
The scouting board of directors voted unanimously on the change that will allow girls to become Cub Scouts and earned the organization’s highest honor of Eagle Scout.
"We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children," Boy Scouts CEO Michael Surbaugh said.

A safe room and classroom addition at Willard Central Elementary School will be used by the music, arts and athletic programs for a district that had 4,536 students last year, according to Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education figures, but school officials say enrollment is projected to grow.
