Kansas City-based craft brewer Boulevard Brewing Co. founder John McDonald has sold a majority interest in his company to Belgium-based brewer Duvel Moortgat.
McDonald has committed to reinvesting in the newly merged company, and he will remain a minority owner. Boulevard management and employment is expected to remain unchanged, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
In the U.S., the Belgian brewer is known for its Duvel brand beer. Duvel Moortgat sells roughly 750,000 barrels of beer a year, while Boulevard sells about 200,000 annually.
