Bolivar pharmacy adopts new name

Posted online
A 20-year-old Bolivar pharmacy is letting its franchise agreement expire and adopting a new name.

The Medicine Shoppe, which had operated as a franchise at 2000 S. Springfield Ave., has changed its name to Bolivar Drug, according to a news release.

The pharmacy opened as The Medicine Shoppe in January 1993, and the franchise agreements expires Dec. 31.

"We just felt that as a local, independent pharmacy, we better know the needs of our customers and can offer superior, professional customer service," co-owner Jeff Sparks said in the release.

Jeff and Robin Sparks employ seven at their company, which was named Small Business of the Year in 2003 by the Bolivar Area Chamber of Commerce, the release said.

Bolivar Drug has scheduled a 2 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Jan. 16.[[In-content Ad]]
