Douglas, Haun & Heidemann PC has acquired the Courtney Law Firm, where the Bolivar-based law firm leased space for its Springfield office the past two years.
DHH purchased the Courtney Law Firm, 1910 E. Battlefield Road, Nov. 1 from attorney John Courtney. With the purchase for undisclosed terms, Courtney Law Firm became Courtney & Douglas Wealth and Estate Planning Group LLC, said Ruth Medley, legal administrator for DHH.
The combined firm provides estate planning, trust administration and probate administration, as well as a range of legal services. DHH partners Pat Douglas and Donald Brown work with clients at the Springfield office, as well as its Bolivar practice at 111 W. Broadway.
Attorneys John Courtney, Ted Tinsman and Jason Smith were retained in the acquisition, and DHH employs seven in the new firm. The company employs 32 overall, Medley said.
DHH leases space from Nancy Jester of Properties of Distinction for Courtney & Douglas Wealth and Estate Planning Group.
The Courtney Law Firm, which practiced estate planning, bankruptcy and family law, was founded by Courtney in 1991. He also founded Springfield Trust Co. that year and sold the business to Central Trust and Investment Co. in 2009, according to
