Boeing to slash 500 defense jobs

Boeing Co. plans to cut 500 net jobs during the next four years from its defense and space businesses.

The cuts mean reducing work at its Huntington Beach, California, plant and closing two smaller facilities in Texas and Virginia.

This year, Boeing has reduced its workforce by 17,000 positions, or around 4 percent of its total headcount.
