Boeing to create 700 STL jobs for 777X parts production

When one door closes, another one opens. The phrase rings especially true for the city of St. Louis, which lost its bid to bring production of Boeing's 777X aircraft to town in January, but yesterday announced parts for the same craft will be made in the Gateway City.

The move is expected to create 700 jobs.

The St. Louis Business Journal reports it marks the first time production of Boeing (NYSE: BA) commercial planes will take place in the city. Boeing has long produced military aircraft in the St. Louis region. Boeing has begun to target military versions of its commercial jets in order to keep open the St. Louis manufacturing line that makes F/A-18 and F-15 fighter jets.
