Boeing is hiring permanent replacements for St. Louis workers who have been on strike for a month.
Dan Gillian, Boeing's vice president of air dominance, announced in a letter to employees that the process had started.
A contract offer with a 20% general wage increase over four years was voted down in early August. There also was a $5,000 ratification bonus, which was lower than a $12,000 bonus received by employees in the Pacific Northwest and South Carolina, union officials say.
