Boeing Co. machinists in the St. Louis area have voted against a new contract offer from the company.
"Boeing’s modified offer did not include a sufficient signing bonus relative to what other Boeing workers have received, or a raise in 401(k) benefits," officials with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 837 said.
Dan Gillian, Boeing’s top executive in St. Louis, said in a statement that "the overall economic framework of our offer will not change" and the hiring of replacement workers is planned amid a strike.
