Board of Realtors ups security of property-listing service

Members of the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors will find a more secure way to access the board’s property listings this September with the launch of a new login-authentication program.

The board plans to implement Secure Logon from Simi Valley, Calif.-based Rapattoni Corp. for its Multi-List Service, according to a board news release. The Multi-List Service is a database of all properties for sale or sold in the area that serves the board’s nearly 3,000 members.

To access the list service, users would have to provide their identifications and passwords, in addition to security codes that will change regularly. The codes will display on a keychain token provided to each user.

This “two-factor authentication” is designed to ensure only authorized users can access the list service by eliminating account sharing and ID theft, according to the release.

The board has used Rapattoni software and its list service system since 2001, and since then, the board’s membership has nearly doubled. Through the new system, Rapattoni will provide delivery, training and customer support via a call center.

Aside from its security advantage, the new system will allow users to log in once to access other authorized sites and board services, such as registering for a class or paying dues, according to the release.

The board would not disclose the cost for implementing the new system.[[In-content Ad]]
