BMW will pay an $18 million fine to settle allegations that it inflated monthly sales figures in the United States.
The Securities and Exchange Commission alleged the company kept a reserve of unreported sales to meet monthly targets over a five-year period.
During that time, BMW allegedly used the faulty information to help raise $18 billion in corporate bond offerings.
