In the spirit of the World Series, now tied 1-1 between the St. Louis Cardinals and Detroit Tigers, Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt and Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm have agreed to indulge in each other’s home-state claims to fame if his or her team loses.
If the Cardinals lose, Blunt will wear a Tigers jersey, hold a sign that says “Jim Leyland is my Tiger” and eat a Little Caesers pizza with Vernor’s Ginger Ale. He’ll also call the Mitch Albom radio show in Detroit and sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
If the Tigers lose, Granholm will wear an Albert Pujols jersey and eat a Missouri-branded Angus steak with a bottle of Missouri wine, Bud Select or Fitz’s Root Beer. She’ll read the first chapter of “Three Nights in August” about Cardinals Manager Tony La Russa and call the McGraw Millhaven Show on Big 550 KTRS.
