Gov. Matt Blunt and U.S. Sens. Kit Bond and Claire McCaskill are leading a bipartisan trade mission to China this week in an effort to strengthen Missouri’s trading partnership with the Asian nation.

The trio is leading a delegation of government, business and civic leaders from the St. Louis area.

“Missouri businesses have shattered export records every year since I took office in 2005,” Blunt said in a news release. “This bipartisan trade mission to China, one of our most important trading partners, will help strengthen business relations and help continue Missouri’s outstanding job growth.”

Those participating in the trade mission are: U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan; St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay; St. Louis County executive Charlie Dooley; former Gov. Bob Holden, who is vice chairman of the Midwest U.S.–China Association; St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association President and CEO Richard Fleming; World Wide Technology CEO and chairman David Steward; and executives from Pfizer, Peabody Energy, Unigroup, McEagle Properties, the World Trade Center St. Louis and Lambert St. Louis International Airport, according to the release.
