Blue Bell Creameries gets help from oil tycoon

Customers who miss Blue Bell Creameries' products may have Fort Worth, Texas, oil billionaire Sid Bass to thank when the ice cream returns to store shelves.

The 73-year-old, who is worth an estimated $1.7 billion, has made a "significant," undisclosed investment in the company, according to Chron.com.

"The additional capital will ensure the successful return of our ice cream to the market and our loyal customers," CEO Paul Kruse said in a statement.

The company halted production in April following news of listeria contamination tied to at least three deaths. Blue Bell has since laid off or furloughed 75 percent of its workforce.
