Michael Bloomberg’s Bloomberg Philanthropies is donating $600 million to historically Black medical schools.
Bloomberg reportedly plans to donate $175 million each to the endowments of Meharry Medical College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Howard University College of Medicine, as well as $75 million to Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science. Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine also will receive a $5 million grant.
“This gift will empower new generations of Black doctors to create a healthier and more equitable future for our country,” Bloomberg said in a statement.
