Blarney stone kiss

Posted online
On July 20, we left on a 19-day trip to Scotland and Ireland for two separate, one-week tours. We had always wanted to see both countries.

We met more than 30 people on each tour. They all became great traveling comrades, some with whom we still communicate.

We were fortunate to be able to play golf three times – twice in Scotland and once in Ireland at Dromoland Golf and Country Club, where we also were staying for three days at Dromoland Castle. In Scotland, we played at Western Gailes and the St. Andrews Links Course.

Each hotel or castle we stayed at had a charm of its own. The beauty of Scotland with its mountains and many streams and lakes is breathtaking. The narrow, winding roads in a large motor coach are also “breathtaking.” Fortunately, we had wonderful drivers and excellent guides.

Ireland was also a beautiful country. The Irish special gift of gab and “blarney” (smooth talk used in flattery) is very unique. Of course, visitors must kiss the Blarney stone to receive this gift.
