Black Oak Mountain Amphitheater up for sale

Black Oak Mountain Amphitheater has closed and is listed for sale on the area real estate market.

The Lampe theater, located near Table Rock Lake southwest of Branson, has an asking price of $3.7 million, according to its Sept. 11 listing posted by CJR Tri-Lakes Realtors.

The theater was purchased by Garland Pierce in 2009 and run by CEO Deb Hansen, his daughter, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.

A call to the theater's box office went unanswered this morning. Officials posted a statement yesterday to Black Oak's Facebook page.

"The owner is simply at a point in his life where he has other obligations and goals to achieve," the statement said. "It was never his intention to run the (amphitheater) on a long-term basis. His goal from the beginning was to simply get the venue back into working order and sell it.

"He is merely looking to pass the fruits of his hard work and dedication on to a new owner, someone who can devote the necessary time it takes to operate a venue of this size."

The 160-acre campground and theater - which according to the listing has 6,000 seats and room for 3,000 general admission ticket holders - reopened in 2010 after sitting dormant for nearly a decade and enduring a fire in 2007. Following its first season back, which resulted in a loss of nearly $1 million, the owner committed more than $1 million in capital to renovate the venue, according to SBJ archives.

The theater has hosted acts including Foreigner, Styx, Kansas, Journey, Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw and Lynard Skynard.[[In-content Ad]]
