Black Friday deals start Saturday

Posted online
Before the last scream is heard on Halloween night, Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) will kick off its slate of Christmas sales.

The online retailer will open its month-long build-up to Black Friday at midnight Saturday featuring more products and more frequent deals, such as its deal of the day feature which will run every day from Nov. 1 through Dec. 22.

USA Today reports it also will increase the frequency and number of products available as "lightning deals" from Nov. 1 until the official Black Friday on Nov. 28. Lightning deals are products that go on sale for a limited amount of time each day; closer to Black Friday, deals go up every 10 minutes.

Other retailers such as Sears and Staples also will kick off sales this weekend. Not including today, shoppers have just seven Fridays until Christmas.
