BKD and MSU will work together to identify the social and economic impact of the state’s housing tax credit, quantify its economic benefits and address the impact it has on residents and state institutions, according to an MHDC news release.
“(The study) provides us with a detailed look at the tax credit and ways we can continue to improve affordable housing for Missouri citizens in the future, and ensure we get the most of our tax dollars,” said State Treasurer Sarah Steelman, who also is MHDC chairman, in the release.
BKD and MSU’s proposal for the study was one of three received; others were submitted by the Ithaca Group at St. Louis University and Rubin Brown with University of Missouri-St. Louis.
The commission is in the process of setting a timeline for the study.
