Springfield-based BKD LLP and KPM CPAs & Advisors changed positions on Inside Public Accounting's annual list of the top U.S. accounting firms.
BKD ranked No. 14, while KPM was No. 242, according to the report released late last month. IPA ranks the top 400 accounting firms nationwide by net revenue.
Led by CEO Tom Watson, BKD reported $758.1 million in net revenue. The company's ranking was up from its No. 15 spot in 2020 but down from No. 13 in 2019.
KPM, which is led by Sean Balisle, reported net revenue of $16.2 million, according to the IPA report. The firm ranked No. 239 in 2020 and No. 237 in 2019.
Topping the IPA list is New York-based Deloitte, which reported $23.2 billion in net revenue.
“It turns out that 2020 was a pretty good year for the nation’s largest accounting firms,” said Mike Platt, IPA principal, in a news release. “Not only did they pivot to adapt quickly to working from home, but they added new services, expanded advisory capabilities, continued with technology investments, promoted new partners and grew in both revenue and staff.
"How much of that is sustainable is the question that every leadership team will now be trying to answer.”
The former Kmart store on the grounds of the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World and Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium is slated for demolition, according to a permit on file with the city of Springfield.
