BKD expands reach in Lone Star State

Springfield-based accounting firm BKD LLP penned two acquisitions this month designed to strengthen its foothold in Texas.

The company today announced the purchase of Dallas-based CampbellWilson LLP, a $3 million health care regulatory consulting firm with 10 staff members, according to a news release.

"With the addition of CampbellWilson, BKD will strengthen what’s already one of the largest health care consulting teams in Texas,” said Chris Clark, health care industry leader for BKD’s South Region, in the release.

The company's employees are joining BKD's existing pool of nearly 250 people in its Dallas and Fort Worth offices. The deal for undisclosed terms is scheduled to close June 1.

Included in the acquisition is a proprietary physician time study system from CampbellWilson, which BKD plans to launch companywide, according to the release.

Last week, BKD separately announced a deal to buy a portion of Grant Thornton LLP's government audit practice, mostly in Texas and Oklahoma. BKD expects to finish transitioning the new business into its operations by August.

BKD expects a revenue jump of up to $3.5 million from the deal, according to a news release. The transaction, which also means the addition of three new partners, includes a small number of nonprofit, commercial and benefit plan clients. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

"The South Region’s public sector and (not-for-profit) practice has grown nearly 14% in (fiscal) 2020 so far, and adding this new talent will help us maintain our momentum into 2021 and beyond,” said BKD CEO Ted Dickman, in the release.
