The BKD Foundation, the charitable division of certified public accounting firm BKD LLP, has donated $15,000 to the OTC Foundation, the fundraising arm of Ozarks Technical Community College.
The funds will be used for the college's expansion of the Information Commons West building on the Springfield campus. One of the new classrooms in the addition will be named after the firm, according to an OTC news release.
“We are pleased that the BKD Foundation has chosen to support the college with this gift,” OTC President Hal Higdon said in the release. “The investment of area businesses speaks volumes about the necessity of an institution like OTC for the local workforce and economy.”
The donation was coordinated by BKD Managing Partner John Wanamaker through the BKD Foundation. BKD CEO Neal Spencer also serves as president of the board of the OTC Foundation.
“The OTC Foundation is grateful for the involvement of the BKD Foundation in this project,” Cliff Davis, executive director of the OTC Foundation, said in the release. “This much-needed expansion would not be possible without the backing of local business leaders like BKD.”
The Information Commons West expansion - which would add classroom space for 2,400 students a day - is scheduled for completion in August, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
