Posted online
Partners at Springfield-based accounting firm BKD LLP gave CEO Neal Spencer a vote of confidence by re-electing him to the top post for a second three-year term.

He is responsible for leading and directing employees, as well as leading the BKD management committee, which is responsible for policymaking and strategic direction.

Spencer was first elected CEO by the committee in November 2006, taking over for retired Managing Partner Bill Fingland on June 1, 2007. In his first term, Spencer supervised a restructuring of the firm's practice units into four regions. He also led a rebranding effort and the acquisition of five accounting firms, in Mississippi and Texas.

Under Spencer's watch, BKD was named one of the "Best Accounting Firms to Work For" in 2008 and 2009 by Accounting Today magazine.

BKD has more than 2,000 employees in 32 offices, and the company posted net annual revenue of $405 million, securing it a spot as a Top 10 U.S. accounting firm according to Inside Public Accounting.[[In-content Ad]]
