BKD buying Utah firm

Posted online

Springfield-based public accounting firm BKD LLP penned an acquisition deal.

The purchase of Salt Lake City-based Stayner Bates PC is scheduled to close June 1. The acquisition price was not disclosed in a news release.

“With the addition of Stayner Bates, BKD has accomplished a long-standing goal of joining the Utah market,” said Jeff Ronsse, a BKD managing partner in Denver, in the release. “The combination enhances BKD’s resources and provides Stayner Bates with greater growth opportunities and market presence.”

Stayner Bates’ staff of 35 employees, including four partners, will remain at their current Salt Lake City office. The company specializes in assurance, taxes, consulting and business valuations.

With 38 offices in 17 states, BKD produced fiscal year 2018 revenue of $600 million. The company has more than 2,710 employees, including around 300 partners.

The latest acquisition follows two summer purchases in 2018, when BKD bought New York City-based Loeb & Troper LLP and Fort Worth, Texas-based Rylander, Clay & Opitz LLP.

Also in summer 2018, BKD maintained its No. 12 ranking on Inside Public Accounting’s list of the top U.S. firms, with net revenue of $594.6 million.
