Springfield-based certified public accounting firm BKD LLP acquired Waco, Texas-based accounting firm Parrish, Moody & Fikes PC, effective July 1. The firm's Waco office is BKD's fourth Texas location.
“We want to continue our strategy of growing a dominant health care practice in Texas, and the timing was right for PMF to join our firm,” BKD CEO Neal Spencer said in a news release. “Their commitment to excellence and client service, along with their health care industry expertise, makes the firm a fitting addition to BKD.”
PMF specializes in Medicare and Medicaid advisory and works with more than 80 hospitals. The firm also provides tax planning, business valuation, technology and litigation support services to companies in several industries.
With the acquisition, BKD also gains 50 PMF team members and a new partner, Michael Oatman. Larry King, managing partner of BKD's Dallas office, and Tom Watson, Dallas assistant managing partner, will lead the Waco office, which will be an affiliate of BKD's Dallas office, the release said.
“The merger of BKD and PMF is a game changer for Texas health care,” Watson said in the release. “Our Texas offices now serve nearly 25 percent of Texas hospitals. PMF’s experienced professionals are a welcome addition to our growing Texas health care practice. They have a robust consulting practice that will add several skill sets to the already impressive industry expertise within BKD."
PMF was founded more than 60 years ago and will keep its current office location in Waco.
In addition to Texas locations in Waco and Dallas, BKD also holds offices in Houston and San Antonio.
