St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare furloughed nearly 3,000 workers, representing about 10% of its staff.
A BJC spokesperson said impacted workers would continue to have their medical and dental premiums covered by the organization.
Conducted last week, the furloughs are part of cost-cutting measures announced by BJC earlier this month.
