Following a 20 percent drop last week, the value of bitcoin surged Sunday to a new record of $11,773.83.
That's up 30.5 percent from a low of $9,021.85 hit Thursday.
The cryptocurrency crossed the $10,000 threshold on Tuesday and topped $11,000 the next day. It then dropped to its most recent low.
