Nearly all industrial-scale Bitcoin miners in Texas have shut down their machines in response to a heat wave in the state.
They're responding to a conservation request from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
Lee Bratcher, president of the Texas Blockchain Council, said the move by miners "allows for over 1% of total grid capacity to be pushed back onto the grid for retail and commercial use.”
