Bitcoin hits record high

Bitcoin was trading as high as $2,252 yesterday, a record high.

It first climbed over the $2,000 threshold during the weekend.

The increase in the value of the digital currency is said to be linked, in part, to legislation passed in Japan allowing bitcoin to be used as a legal currency.
