Ahead of the Missouri presidential primaries next week, former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to visit Springfield this afternoon to promote his wife’s campaign.
Clinton is scheduled to visit the Teamsters Union, Local 245, 1850 E. Division St., at 3 p.m., according to a news release.
"We are always pleased to have high-profile Democrats come to the Ozarks,” said Skyler Johnston, executive director of the Greene County Democrats, in the release. “Their presence highlights our party's message and the promise of a successful election season."
In 2008, Clinton visited Central High School in Springfield to champion his wife’s campaign when she was a Democratic candidate along with President Barack Obama. On Feb. 18, Steve Stepp lent his National Audio Co. headquarters
downtown for an after-hours grassroots recruitment event for Hillary Clinton’s
campaign.
Clinton is currently leading the Democratic race with 1,223 delegates, compared to Bernie Sanders’ 574. On the Republican side, Donald Trump has 459 delegates, ahead of 360 for Ted Cruz and 152 for Marco Rubio, according to election coverage by The Associated Press.
The Show-Me State’s primaries are
scheduled March 15.
